Hi, I’m Hannele Chila
People often ask how I got into bookkeeping—and the truth is, it kind of found me. Back in 1988, when my husband and I started our residential construction company, someone had to take care of the paperwork… so I jumped in. And to my surprise, I loved it.
There’s something satisfying about organizing the chaos and making sense of all the moving pieces behind the scenes.
Since then, I’ve done full-cycle accounting for all kinds of businesses—law firms, architectural companies, construction and electrical contractors, even a public accounting firm. I’ve supported businesses of all shapes and sizes, some with revenues up to $10 million a year, and while their needs are always different, one thing seems to stay the same. People are looking for someone they can count on. Someone steady in the chaos, who quietly keeps things moving without adding stress.
That’s the space I try to hold.
For me, it’s not just about the numbers (though I do love a good spreadsheet). It’s about helping people feel less stressed and more supported. I believe in being reliable, thoughtful, and easy to talk to—especially when you’re dealing with the kind of work most people would rather avoid.
Outside of work, I’m all about family!
I live in Ladysmith, BC, and love spending time with my people and my sweet dog, Finnley. Quilting is my happy place—it keeps my hands busy and my heart calm. And when I need to clear my head, nothing beats a good hike through the forest.
